Finite Element Analysis of Self-centering Reinforced Concrete Shear Walls

چکیده
Abstract Post-tensioned precast concrete walls are an attractive research trend in structural engineering, which replaces cast-in-place earthquake-prone buildings. Precast use mild steel and high-strength post-tensioning for flexural resistance. Mild reinforcement yields tension compression, dissipating inelastic energy. Unbounded tendons used inside the wall to give self-centering capability, lowers residual displacements. At wall-foundation, horizontal slots installed equally. Meanwhile, middle-wall is still anchored base. A three-dimensional finite element (FE) model developed this study assess lateral load response of shear with bottom slots. The seismic performance three distinct evaluated using Abaqus software FEA. validated by comparing experimental data accessible literature. Furthermore, we investigate effects slit length, strand position, initial prestressing level, strength. All these criteria critical constructing structures new concept. results show that accurately predicts all above-mentioned properties, including force–displacement toe area damage walls.

متن کاملA Macro-model for Nonlinear Analysis of 3D Reinforced Concrete Shear Walls
Architectural limitations in many situations make it necessary for the RC shear walls to be extended in plan in different directions at a single location that makes them a 3D configuration. Analysis of such walls is very challenging. In this research about 450 cases of 3D shear walls are considered with different shapes and heights. L, T and H-shape walls are studied. They are nonlinearly analy...
متن کاملFinite Element Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Column Under Lateral Load
To serve its purpose a structure must be safe against collapse and serviceable in use. Serviceability requires that deflections be adequately small to keep the cracks within tolerable limits. Although the widely followed ACI Code suggests a detailed method of deflection calculation, it often cannot exactly perceive the actual behavior of a structure. For this purpose, finite element analysis, u...
متن کاملFinite Element Analysis of Bond for Reinforced Concrete Structures
A high-resolution finite element model is developed using the MSC.Marc software package to investigate local bond behavior and the modeling of this behavior. In the model, interaction between concrete and steel is treated geometrically as contact between two separate bodies. Concrete is modeled as a homogenous material. A multiple, fixed, smeared crack model is used to simulate response in tens...
متن کاملFinite Element Analysis of Thin Steel Plate Shear Walls
Steel plate shear walls (SPSWs) in buildings are known to be an effective means for resisting lateral forces. By using un-stiffened walls and allowing them to buckle, their energy absorption capacity will increase significantly due to the postbuckling capacity. The post-buckling tension field action of SPSWs can provide substantial strength, stiffness and ductility. This paper presents the Fini...
